Too Long

It's been entirely too long since I've had one of my yogurt bowls. After finally getting another tub of my beloved Wildwood soyogurt, being too lazy to prepare breakfast last night and too hot to make warm oats this morning, I figured it was time to make another yo'bowl.

In the mix
- 1/3 cup soyogurt
- 1/4 cup soy milk
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp maca

Topped with
- 1/4 cup granola
- 1/2 cup Cascadian Farms cinnamon crunch
- 1/2 banana + bluberries
- Blob o' sunbutter

For some reason the cereal gets softer in yogurt than in my smoothies, so I can't say I'm in love with it in here, but it was still mighty good. The chia seeds thicken the milk and add more volume AND nutrition. Win, win!

On the agenda for today:
- Hunt down nail clippers to trim my gnarly fingernails
- Possibly go to my last Winter Park farmer's market of the summer
- Pump some iron
- Work on my recipe page
- Maybe more Italian food? ;)

I'm going to go put on my face (I love sayings like that) and relax. Ciao!

I'm Bringing Yogurt Back

As much as I love my SIAB, I was craving something different for breakfast this morning. So, I brought back my yogurt bowl!

In the mix:
- Wildwood plain soyogurt
- Banana
- Nature's Path hemp granola
- Slivered almonds
- Bberries
- Shredded coconut
- Cinnamon
- Flax

Unfortunately a little tumeric got in the mix at first because I grabbed that instead of the cinnamon (what? it looks similar) but luckily I salvaged everything and it tasted delicious. I love the combination of coconut/blueberry/almond. Yum!

Yesterday I did 60 minutes of yoga (morning routine and weight loss yoga 1 & 2 from Yoga Download) throughout the day after not doing it as regularly as I usually do, and my body was tight! It took a while to get my muscles and body warm but when I did, it felt awesome. I love how yoga is like riding a bike - it takes some getting used to after a hiatus, but it always comes naturally. My body was in pain and the work out definitely kicked my butt, but it felt awesome.

I think some pool lounging and gym going is in order for today. Stay tuned for a new recipe that I'm excited to share. :)

Sea World

I was apprehensive about going to Sea World because I don't necessarily agree with taking animals out of their natural habitat and using them for entertainment purposes, but my dad bought me a season pass and I really wanted to experience it for myself before I fully passed judgment. I woke up at 7, did my morning yoga, and made a very quick yogurt bowl:

Soyogurt, Nature's Path crunchy vanilla sunrise cereal, banana, cinnamon, flax, and shredded coconut.

Then we set off! The weather was great - not too hot and a nice breeze. I was surprised by how pretty the park was; it almost felt like I was in the tropics. The first ride we went on was Manta, which for some reason was temporarily shut down while we were in line, so we ended up waiting over an hour. Was it worth it? YES. The ride was awesome. We went on every ride, saw the Shamu show and went to a bunch of exhibits. I have to say that my favorite part was Journey to Atlantis; it was hands down the best water ride I've experienced. Here are some pictures:

My dad and I at the Shamu show.

'mingoes. They're pink because they eat shrimp!

This made me ridiculously sad. There was just one polar bear and he looked so lonesome. I wanted to hug him and take him home but I figured he would eat me before I got him to the car.

Shark. I've seen bigger.

And the best for last: A DOLPHIN VIDEO. I wanted one of them to come up to me so I could pet it so desperately, but apparently they weren't feeling me. That'll do, pig, that'll do.

Oh hell, here's some penguins:

Since the apple I brought to Universal turned disgusting, I shoved a peach in my purse to nosh on today. I've come to realize that warm fresh apples = bad but warm peaches = soft, juicy and good. Time to relax.

My Favorite Mug

My eats really aren't that interesting lately. I just moved back home and I'm getting ready to head off to Florida for the summer, so I don't have much time/desire to do a lot of shopping and cooking. Though they may be boring, they're always delicious.

My beloved yogurt bowl. In this mix:
- 1/3 cup soy yogurt
- 1/3 cup Nature's Path pumpkin flax granola
- 1 banana
- 2 tbsp coconut, 1 tbsp flax, oodles of cinnamon
- Blob of apricot jam

I had an INTENSE craving for apricot jam a couple days ago. Weird thing is, is that I've never had it before. In fact, I've never even had an apricot in any form before this jam. I must say, I LOVE it, especially mixed in with everything in this bowl. The flavors work super well together.

I used to think oatmeal was my favorite breakfast, but these yogurt bowls are rising to the top spot.

We all have our favorite coffee mug. Mine is an I Love Lucy mug that I bought in 1999 while on a day trip to Lake George. I remember finding it in a shop that exclusively sold Old Hollywood trinkets and novelties. While many kids grew up watching Barney or Sesame Street, I grew up with I Love Lucy and Old Hollywood films. To this day, I adore Old Hollywood. Drinking from this cup brings back a lot of memories and always brings a smile to my face. Lucy, I'm home!

It's old and faded and one of my favorite possessions.

Thunder at 10AM?!

Yesterday was so beautiful in Massachusetts that it just had to rain and storm all day today. Weather consistency is not this area's strong suit. Anyway, the other treat I had yesterday was this:

Twilight candy bar (basically a vegan Milky Way). One thing I do miss is caramel, so when I saw these at Whole Foods I had to try one. I will say that it's definitely sweet and decadent, but maybe a little too sweet. I'm a bitter dark chocolate girl, so the combination of rice milk chocolate with sweet caramel wasn't as bitter as I prefer. It was tasty, though!

At my weekly Whole Foods trip I also picked up some bulk coconut and restocked my soy yogurt, which had me craving a yogurt bowl ALL DAY. Seriously, I had dreams of this yogurt bowl last night.

It's just soy yogurt, banana granola, unsweetened coconut, strawberries, and a not-quite-ripe banana. With cinnamon, as per usual.

Alongside a cup of "Macadamia nut truffle" coffee, which doesn't taste much different than any other nut flavored coffee.

There's talk about hitting up a bbq joint tonight where, surprisingly, they have a vegan black bean burger. So, we'll see how that goes. I think I'm going to snuggle in bed and watch some Food Network; I didn't sleep well last night because my roommates were up until 4AM messing around on chat roulette.

Chirp chirp

I don't think there's anything better than waking up to the sun shining, birds chirping, and a refreshing morning yoga routine. Oh wait, there is -

Gone bananas yogurt bowl!

In the mix:
- 1/2 cup soy yogurt (w/ 1/2 tsp vanilla and cinnamon mixed in)
- 1/3 cup banana granola
- 1 banana
- 5 walnut halves, toasted and chopped
- 1 tsp ground flax
- More cinnamon for a final sprinkle

Paired with a cup (or three) of vanilla creme coffee and I'm a happy girl. I wonder how banana coffee would taste. Hm.

I just got ready for the gym and I'm going to head out soon. This is going to be a beautiful day filled with good food, good exercise, and no classes! I realize I haven't really posted any pictures of myself, so here is me pre-work out (excuse the sports bra and unmade bed):

Have a good day!
