Seasons 52

My solution to a food rut: go out to eat. Instead of spending hours at home trying to decide what to cook and becoming frustrated when my dishes fail, I decided to let someone else to the work for me. My time in Orlando is quickly dwindling, so I want to take advantage of the vast array of restaurants while I can. Last night I went to Seasons 52, an 'upscale' restaurant that uses organic, fresh ingredients with minimal added fats. All of the entrees at Seasons 52 are below 475 calories and they pride themselves on offering healthy cuisine and an extensive wine list.

What I find most refreshing about Seasons 52 is that they offer multiple alternative menus, including an all vegan menu. The alternative menu made it so much easier because I could order what I wanted without having to worry about whether or not it would actually be 100% vegan.

Oh, the wine list wasn't too bad, either. With the recommendations of the lovely waitress, I ordered a delicious glass of Pinot Gris and then a glass of incredibly crisp and fruity Sauvignon Blanc.

I decided to start with a salad of baby spinach, raspberries, pine nuts and a balsamic vinaigrette. It was simple, but perfectly dressed.

For my entree, I rolled with ponzu glazed tofu with asparagus and roasted red potatoes. I admit, when the plate was put in front of me because it looked like it would taste like bland, grilled tofu, but I was wrong. The tofu had a light citrus taste throughout and the asparagus was crisp. The food didn't need sauces or fancy ingredients - it was all simply, but perfectly prepared.

I loved the restaurant itself, too. It was beautiful on the inside, with a large lakeside window and soft music playing in the background. It's definitely the kind of restaurant you want to linger in long after your meal is finished

Now I'm off to relax a bit, pump some iron and pack because this chicka is going to Miami for the weekend!

  1. Oh wow - sounds fantastic. Very jealous I must say. I am looking forward to Philadelphia b/c they have restaurants that actually do know what a vegan or vegetarian meal is supposed to be. Have fun in Miami!
