Avocados: not just for guacamole anymore

I've tried making green smoothies with spinach or kale, but my cheap blender never quite blends it enough to make it delicious; I usually find myself chewing my smoothie rather than drinking it. So, I thought I'd make a different kind of 'green' smoothie:

Avocado blueberry smoothie

Ingredients
- 1/2 ripe avocado
- 1/3 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 tbsp agave
- 1 tsp ground flax

Instructions
- Toss everything in a blender, whiz until smooth, enjoy! :)

It's so creamy and decadent that it looks unhealthy, but it's quite the opposite! Plus, will you look at that beautiful color? Definitely making one of these again. I wonder how it'd be with mango? Hm.

  1. Can I share a trick for getting the greens to break down? I have a $20 blender from Target; it's a chunk of crap for the most part. This is what i figured out about getting greens to break down in my POS blender: if i put the greens in first and add just enough liquid to cover them, then pulverize the hell out of them (aka, highest blender setting) then breakdown to tiny pieces; then i add the rest of my ingredients and liquids -try it! Avocados are expensive1

  2. Thank you! I have a bunch of frozen bananas and only one lonely avocado left, so I'm going to try this tomorrow. They are expensive, but oh so delicious.
